Teenage Sex
Teenage Sex: Who Is At Fault;
Who Do We Blame?
Teenage sex is at an all time high if you believe the media and the
teens who responded to a poll on the subject. In some areas of the country,
high-school girls are wearing colored, plastic bracelets that indicate
their willingness to do anything from kissing to oral sex, or going all
the way. All the boy has to do is remove the right color bracelet off of the
girl’s wrist to win that particular prize.
According to the media, 50% of all teenagers are participating in oral
sex. Now while this may be safer in that pregnancy can be avoided, this by
no means implies oral sex is safe. Why teenagers think oral sex is OK or
safer is the question and as we are wont to do, who is to blame, surely
not the kids?
Now, I know your teens aren’t in this 50% so it must be the kids down
the street or maybe those troublemakers across town.
The obvious people to blame are the teens , but according to pop
physiologist, we can’t so we must look elsewhere for someone, or some
thing, or some group to blame for this outbreak of sex among our teens.
My first thought was to blame the Republicans. After all they did make
the subject public. They even tried to impeach a president for having oral
sex performed on him in the Oval office. If the Republicans had just left
things alone, oral sex wouldn’t have been a major national news topic for
months on end. And we do know that just because President Clinton was a
Democrat had nothing to do with it.
We could easily blame the Democrats because they kept insisting IT
wasn’t a big deal, its been done before, just pretend IT didn’t happen. So
the Democrats suggested to one and all that oral sex was a personal matter
and was a OK thing. They did try their best to defend the president
against those horrible Republicans. Besides, we know that if President
Clinton had been a Republican, they would still have defended him.
As the two parties publicly fought about IT, IT generated more news,
more details, more comments, and more jokes, which served to keep oral sex
in the public's mind. It’s no wonder our kids heard all about IT and being
kids, wanted to know more.
What about the news media? Surely we can also blame the news media
because they spread the story. They could have ignored the story and
treated it as just the two parties having a turf war but no, they had to
call it news. There it was on the hour every hour, at breakfast, lunch and
dinner. Just because it’s news doesn’t mean they have to report IT.
If we can blame the two parties and the news media we can certainly
blame President Clinton. President Clinton kept swearing that oral sex was
not sex, which implied to our kids that oral sex was not cheating and most
definitely was not SEX. Instead of confessing, he refused to admit to IT
and even argued over the definition of IT.
And let's not forget Hillary Clinton's rush to defend her faithful
husband against those horrible right-wing republicans. Hillary's
defense of President Clinton implied to most that oral sex wasn't really
bad because having been married to Bill for years, did she still believe
him to be innocence? Even his campaign managers knew better. Are we
really suppose to believe Hillary was that naive?
We shouldn’t let the parents off Scott-free. Did you parents talk about
the dangers of disease involved not just with sex but with oral sex?
Parents,did
you explain to your kids that oral sex was sex regardless of the
president’s or the political parties opinions?
Let’s not forget the poll-takers. We know their statistics are accurate
because teenagers don’t lie or exaggerate. No, teens wouldn’t say
something just to yank us adults around. Some teens did things like that
when I was a teen way back when but, of course, I never did.
With all these people talking about and arguing about the definition of
IT and SEX, it’s no wonder our kids heard about IT. And, besides, if it’s
not bad for the president then IT must be OK for the rest of us.
But, where did our kids get the idea oral sex was safe? Did our schools
fail to mention that in whatever passes for a sex education class?
While I still feel like blaming the kids, I know physiologists would
disagree. So if it isn’t the kids fault, it must be our fault - society
has failed again.
Oh so many people to blame. But why don’t I feel better? Because blame
doesn’t fix the problem; it only makes me feel better because it isn’t my
fault so it must be yours.
