Chaos Or Ignorance

Free Will Is An Illusion

Einstein and others have sought a unifying theory, at least in science. Can everything, from science to human behavior be explained by one theory. I doubt inanimate and animate objects can be fully explained with only one theory. Perhaps two theories will be required but I believe all things operate according to laws of which we are unaware. There is logic behind creation and randomness in creation is not really random, we just don’t understand the rules - yet.

Human behavior may appear to be unpredictable but I believe if we knew the rules and the math human behavior could be predicted. Human behavior appears unpredictable only because we don’t have enough data yet for out existing science to create the math that can make order out of the apparent chaos. The chaos theory was developed because we needed to explain our lack of knowledge and out lack of understanding.

Chaos theory is the qualitative study of unstable aperiodic behavior in deterministic nonlinear dynamical systems. (From: Physicists like to think that all you have to do is say, these are the conditions, now what happens next?" by Richard P. Feynman) http://www.duke.edu/~mjd/chaos/chaosh.html

I don’t believe randomness is really random nor nonlinear when seen from the correct perspective. Chaos is really a result of our lack of knowledge and understanding or linear, predictable events.

Unfortunately because chaos is not real then free will is only an illusion. Free only appears to be free because we cannot see or understand the factors that determine a person’s actions based on the input stimuli. Free will operates within a set of rules we have yet to discover.

Just because a range of responses appear possible to and event or situation doesn’t mean we are free to do or accept all of them. In every case, we are predisposed to react a certain way, which eliminates a lot of the apparent choices.

Our predisposition is based on our belief system, character, personality, and training. When an event occurs, we act within the parameters fixed by these traits. While we could act outside of our defined traits, the likelihood is very small. Our predisposition is our conscience and, therefore, our set of rules that we obey. Even if we were to act outside of our normal predisposition, that could be predicted based on recent current events and choices made in our lives.

As our self understanding grows, we realize we really have fewer choices than we think. Our reactions to any situation could be predicted if we were more self-aware. Observe people you know well. You can guess, estimate, predict how they will react in certain circumstances . Yes, people can surprise you but usually because we allowed our desires, wants, and needs to predict their action rather than our detached observation.

Because of this predictability, humans can be manipulated. Some people want to be manipulated. You can observe this in daily life by paying attention to people that want to be directed but try to act as if they don’t. We all do this in some way from simple tasks to the more difficult ones. These type of people constantly seek approval, some by asking, some by being annoying, some by repelling.

Organization are a good case study because people deliberately follow guidelines in order to fit in, to belong, to validate their existence. This is manipulation by pressure, by the desire to succeed, and by the desire to be accepted.

Religions, corporations, and even terrorist organizations all use manipulation in some form to gain and hold followers. These organizations tend to discourage thinking and teach only belief and faith in their particular creed.

Manipulation is any form of control that forces the individual to conform. Some we accept such as laws and rules of conduct because without some constraints on our individualism, society could not exist, at least with any non-chaos order.

Manipulation is a human tendency to try to create order out of chaos, whether in the heavens, in events, or in humans. We humans want order and will do whatever is needed to reduce the chaos caused by our ignorance.

Of course, some people manipulate simply because they think that’s the only way to get what they want without any cost to themselves. Some people manipulate because they are selfish and unconcerned with anyone but themselves.

However, I only manipulate people for their own good. And if you believe that….
