Evolution Or CreationDoes Belief Indicate A Political Party?I have concluded that the two major theories of the origins of this universe are not really about religion or science. These two views, evolution and creation, are about two views of the human condition. These two views are also well represented by our two political parties: Democrats and Republicans. People that believe in evolution tend to accept the traits of humanity as fixed in our genes. Evolutionists blame our problems on our ancestors, our genes, and our survival instinct. Men go to war because it’s in their genes and because fighting was necessary for survival. The evolutionist views the human condition as something that cannot be changed except over eons. Evolutionists prefer to blame society for the shortcomings and misdeeds of the individual. Evolutionists prefer to blame the species rather than the individual. Does this description of evolutionists remind you of the liberal wing of the Democratic Party? Liberals promote the idea that the individual is the responsibility of society and especially of the government and the well to do. Now the opposing view is creationism. Creationists view humans as coming from perfection and, therefore, responsible for their actions. Creationists believe that government should only provide help that the individual or his immediate community cannot provide. Creationists believe in helping but not in making the individual dependent on that help - well except perhaps in religion. Except for the religious angle to creationism, creationists and the far right of the Republican party seem to agree on individual responsibility and less governmental interference in the individual’s life. Your views of how this universe began may well shape your political views and your party affiliations. You moderates and Independents throw a monkey wrench into this concept but I figure you may well hold views from both origination theories and from both political parties. Moderates and Independents are by nature not prone to accept any one view of anything as the only possible answer. That is why these two groups usually control most elections. Moderates are the mainstay of both parties but the far left and the far right get the most attention. Unfortunately, some of you are moderate in politics but fanatics in religion and some are just the opposite. So, as you can see there are only a few of us real moderates. Author: Don Miller
