On ProtestersProtesters Get A Clue - Get A Life - Get…Protesters are really beginning to annoy me. Not so much because they protest but because they almost never offer an intelligent alternative to what they are protesting. Protesters annoy me because they appear to care more about protesting than the cause or reason for the protest. Protesters annoy me because they are acting like some Democrats: complaining without offering solutions. Protest is a valid and valuable freedom when properly used. Protesting is a negative action and few protesters offer anything positive as a result of complying with their demands. Protesting is no longer a "heart-felt" activity but it is a highly organized form of civil rebellion and often civil disobedience. Too many protest simply because they can and because it is fun: the enjoyment of frustrating authority, the pleasure of willfully breaking the laws and getting away with it. Protesters annoy me because most of them are more interested in the media attention than in the cause they are promoting. Protesters come in all shapes, sizes, sexes, and races but most are short-sighted and often intellectually unprepared to discuss what would happen if their demands were granted. A great example of this intellectual difference is about the Iraqi war. Protesters want to pull our troops out today if not sooner. Anyone with an ounce of understanding knows this is not only impossible but also just plain stupid. Yes, you can disagree with the war, why it was started, was it needed or necessary, if it is being conducted correctly, of even if we should be there at all but we are there and we cannot leave - yet. If we were to leave now, the blood-bath that happened after we pulled out of Vietnam would be replayed in Iraq. There is only one reason most of these protesters want us out of Iraq. They seek to destroy America’s credibility. The organizers of the protest marches know that if we left Iraq as it is today, the terrorist would gain a country. These protesters also know that the image of America would suffer worldwide. These protesters know that leaving Iraq now would DESTROY AMERICA in the eyes of the world. These protesters annoy me not because they protest but because most refuse to consider what the consequences of such an action would be. Protesting the Iraqi war isn’t about peace; it isn’t about preventing Iraqi deaths; it isn’t about saving the lives of our military. No, it is about DESTROYING AMERICA. Destroying America is the primary aim of most protest organizers. The protest is not important but the hoped for results are. Protesters annoy me because most don’t care why the protest was organized or by whom. Some protesters know the real reason for the protest but still gladly participate. Some protesters are just naïve and really believe the protest is only about that one thing and not about hate. Hate for America is the primary motivation; hate feeds their egos. Hate is a powerful motivation but a poor intellectual companion. Hate clouds and distorts logic and reason. Hate doesn’t care who gets hurt because it is never their fault but the fault of someone else. Protesters seldom want to improve any situation because hate prefers destruction to building. Hate doesn’t ask what would happen later or what would replace that which they wish to change or remove. Hate is about NOW - let tomorrow take care of itself. Hate is about self-glorification and pride of destruction. Hate doesn’t build - it only destroys. Author: Don Miller
