Illegal Immigration
Illegal immigrants are insisting they have the right to live and work
in this country. Their argument is that because our government has not
done its job by keeping them out and by not deporting them when found,
they have the right to stay.
NSA Spying
As I listened to various people rant about the NSA spying, I wondered
what the big deal was. After all, it was only numbers and calls
originating outside the U.S. to someone inside the U.S.
What Is Consciousness?
What is consciousness is a question that has teased mankind for eons or
at least from the time we realized we were conscious. The short answer is
we don’t know. The long answer is we think we have it.
Belief And Tolerance
While there is value in religious beliefs, there is no value in
religious intolerance
Congressional Failure
Congress used to remind me of two old hound dogs growling and snarling over
the same bone. However, lately Congress reminds me more of two
ill-mannered kids fighting over the same toy.
On Hypocrisy
Most of us lean toward the, "Do as I say, not as I do" form of
hypocrisy. We tell our children not to do things we did when we were
young.
On Abuse
We normally think of abuse as something done to a person without their
permission. But if a person agrees to that abuse is it still abuse?
Debated Government
We have a debate going on as to the direction our government should
take. The debate pits Democrats against Republicans but it really is a
debate between liberals and conservatives , secularists, and religions.
Intelligent Design
The concept of intelligent design is not new but, unfortunately, it has
become associated with religions rather than with science. Now, I know you
are thinking that intelligent design, which states that the universe was
created rather than evolved naturally, is not science..
Leaving Iraq
War is coming with several nations in the Middle East. The most likely
are Syria and Iran. The invasion of Iraq may have shortened the timetable
by months or even a few years.
Confusing Labels
Labels are words we use to describe a person or his or her actions.
Most of us tend to accept a label as if it defines the total person;
however, a label is almost always a description of a person’s actions at a
specific point in time.
Minimum Wage
Minimum wage is a starter wage not a living wage. It is intended to
allow the inexperienced and unskilled to gain some entry-level experience
and to learn a payable skill.
