If Love Were Wishes

I wish I could bend space and time
So I could erase your troubles, your pain.
Yes, this may sound like a cheap line
But your love I would like to retain.

It hurts so much to see your sorrow
I would soothe your pain, wipe your tears
And if I could today or at least tomorrow
Eliminate the problems, remove your fears.

My love is not up to the task
To make you smile for even an hour.
But you have only to simply ask
And I’ll do anything within my power.

Even if I must no longer call you friend
Or if we must drift oh so far apart.
These I will do tho my heart will rend.
Yet, I will understand and do my part.
